  19. 4S, SRI LANKA. Over the past weekend, stateside stations (along with
  20. Europeans and Asians) report 4S7EA was quite active on 15, 20 and 80
  21. meters SSB. Check 15 meters on 21250 kHz around 1130z; 20 meters on
  22. 14190 khz around 1515z and 0140z and 80 meters on 3799 kHz around
  23. 1920z. QSL via Ernest Amarasinghe, 275 6 Colombo Rd, Divulpitija,
  24. Boralesgamuwa, Sri Lanka.

  26. 9H, MALTA. Be looking for Heinz, DL6MDG, to be active from Valetta,
  27. June 7-20th. He will be signing 9H3SS and will be active mainly on 
  28. SSB. QSL via CBA.
  29.  
  30. 9N, NEPAL. The DX New Letter (DXNL) reports Brad, KV5V, will stay in
  31. Nepal and will try to become active from the stations of 9N1ARB (Dick)
  32. and 9N1RHM (Rich) from June 23-30th. Meanwhile, Dick can usually be
  33. found on 20 meter (around 14200 kHz +/- 20 khz) between 0100 and 0230z.
  34. QSL via KV5V. Rich, who seems to be not as active, can be found around
  35. about the same time and frequencies. Remember, YL Kyoko, 9N1KY, is on
  36. the air from Nepal until July. There have been no QSNs reported (on the
  37. Ohio/Penn Network) of her activity as of yet.
  38.  
  39. 9U, BURUNDI. Well known DXer, Peter, ON6TT (currently signing 5X1T),
  40. was heard active from here this past week operating from Alfredo, 9U5CW,
  41. QTH. Using Alfredo's callsign and station, Peter was very active on CW
  42. on the lower bands. Check 80 and 160 meters between 2230 and 0300z. He
  43. was also heard operating on 17 meters and 20 meters CW/SSB/RTTY. His 
  44. length of stay is unknown at this time.
  45.  
  46. EJ, GREAT BLASKET ISLAND (IRELAND). Declan, EI6FR, reports that the
  47. WestNet DX Group will activate IOTA EU-007 next weekend. Opertions will
  48. begin Friday, June 7th and last until Monday, June 10th inclusive. This
  49. will be an all bands (10-160 meters) operation with particular attention
  50. to the low bands. The callsign used will be EJ7NET and QSLs should go as
  51. usual to EI6FR. ADDED NOTE: Declan states this same group will be active
  52. in July for the IOTA contest were they will operate from Anglesey EU-124
  53. using the callsign GW4VEQ/P (or a special contest callsign).
  54.  
  55. EY9, TAJIKISTAN (RARE PREFIX!). Nodir, EY8MM, reports he will be planning
  56. to be active as EY8MM/9 Sunday, June 6th (ed. I think he means June 9th,
  57. but just in case watch for him on the 6th) on 18 MHz. Nodir is looking for
  58. a good contest (160 m) position and will drive over mountains and install
  59. temporary 2-el quad for a 1 day test. He hopes it will be interesting for
  60. PX hunters to catch a EY9 since they are not active and are considered a
  61. rare prefix. All QSL via bureau or CBA.
  62.  
  63. FO, CLIPPERTON ISLANDS (DXPEDITION UPDATE). Jay, WA2FIJ, continues to
  64. seek a boat (or two) whose owner(s) would like to go to Clipperton or
  65. who may be passing the island and would be willing to stop for 7-10 days
  66. and then drop the team off in Mexico (or Costa Rica) in the February/March
  67. 1997 time frame. For this DXpedition, there is a planned FIRST YL
  68. operator and the first use of a Quad/tower combo on the island (if the
  69. vessel can handle the tower). Jay is quite confident he can get the
  70. necessary paperwork for an operation, but he needs a boat (or boats)
  71. committed so the paperwork can be inititated. Jay reports the Clipperton
  72. operation requires 3 levels of documents:
  73.         1. Permission for the specific boat to be in French waters.
  74.         2. Permission to be on the island.
  75.         3. The actual amateur license.
  76.   In order to file the paperwork he needs the name of the boat(s) to
  77. generate the proper permits. Thus the search for a vessel.

  79. FR/T, TROMELIN. According to the 425 DX NEWS  FR5ZQ should be active in
  80. July as /T for some weeks. The CW/SSB activity is planned.
  81.  
  82. GJ, JERSEY (An IOTA DXpedition). IOTA chasers should mark their calendars
  83. for this one. Jim, G3RTE, and Phil, G3SWH, will be active from "Les 
  84. Minquires" - The Minkies, EU-099 from Friday 28th June until Monday 1st
  85. July 1996. Callsigns to be used will be GJ3RTE/P on SSB and GJ3SWH/P on
  86. CW. Operations will be on all bands from 80-10 meters depending upon 
  87. conditions. It is planned to have two stations running. All QSLing will
  88. be handled by G3SWH (direct to CBA or via the bureau). This trip is 
  89. dependant upon the weather.

  91. HL0, BOGIL ISLAND (South Korea). Hanyang University Amateur Radio Club
  92. (HL0C) plans to operate at Bogil Island, Chunnam Provice, Korea. The
  93. island is in IOTA AS-085 group. The date of operation will be June 24-26.
  94. HL0C/4 will be the callsign used. Send QSL card to HL0C direct or via
  95. the bureau. Please add "Amateur Radio Club, HL0C" to the CBA if you
  96. send your QSL card direct.
  97.  
  98. QSL UPDATES.... Ken, VE1RU, reports that 75% of the CY0TP QSLs for the
  99. USA have mail. Mailings go out every Monday morning. Requests for QSLs
  100. via the bureau have been arriving over the last month with the first
  101. mailing of bureau cards taking place last week. QSL requests for 6 meters
  102. and satellite contacts have been mailed with none outstanding. If you have
  103. already sent for a QSL and it hasn't shown up in your mailbox as of yet,
  104. Wayne, VE1CBK, requests that you don't send again, at least until all the
  105. remaining QSLs have been answered and the questionable cards have been
  106. checked. Remember, all contacts for 6 meters and up which includes all
  107. satellites contacts go via VE1AOE (CBA). All contacts with CY0AOE, also
  108. go via VE1AOE. All HF contacts RTTY, CW and SSB go via VE1CBK, Wayne King,
  109. 63 Brook St., Lake Fletcher, Nova Scotia, CANADA, B2T 1A5....... 
  110.    If you need QSLs for 9K2ZZ, 9K2ZC or 9K2YY, you better send for them
  111. soon. Ray, W8CNL, and Derek, KC3ELO, report that they will be removing
  112. the logs off their computers. Once the logs are off the computer, they
  113. will only reply QSLs about once every 6 months.........
  114.    9H0DX AND 9H3WK QSLs are printed (reports Win, DK9IP) and will be mailed
  115. to the DARC-HQ next week for further distribution to the bureaus. Cards 
  116. received direct were mailed already......
  117.    Ray, OZ8RO, reports all direct QSLs for his JW5HE activities in April
  118. and May have been sent out now......
  119.    Dave, WD4PDZ, reports he is NOT the QSL Manager for KP4XX. He has been
  120. receiving cards for this station (mostly from Europe) and he has no
  121. knowledge of this station. He is the QSL Manager for YS1XS.

  123. RARE GRID SQUARE FOR VHF CONTEST. Look for I8TWK/8 operating from grid
  124. square JM79, from the June 6-10th. Frequencies to be used are: 50.152
  125. MHz (SSB and CW) and 144.100 (Random MS); also 144.300 *-QRM SSB Tropo
  126. calls.

  128. SPECIAL EVENT STATION. Armed Forces Day will be held at Canadian Forces
  129. Base Calgary next Sunday, June 9th from 1600z to 2200z. Special Event
  130. Station CF6AFD will be on the air from Hanger 1, Currie Barracks, CFB
  131. Calgary. Activity planned will be on HF, local VHF (FM & SSB), packet
  132. radio and possibly 6 meters. QSL to VE6SRC.

  134. UK SPECIAL CONTEST CALLSIGNS. The DX News Sheets (DXNS) report British
  135. club stations will be using special "1x1" and "2x1" callsigns in certain
  136. international HF contest. The callsign will consist of a "G" or "M", a
  137. regional locator (except England), a digit corresponding to the year
  138. (ie. 6 for 1996) and a single letter (example: G6A, M6B, GW6Y, MM6Z...
  139. etc). Fifty-two callsigns are available each year (G#A-Z and M#A-Z). The
  140. first contest in which these special callsigns will appear will be the
  141. IARU Championship (July 13-14th).

  143. VQ9, CHAGOS ISLANDS. Ron, VQ9DX (AA6DX), will be leaving Diego Garcia on
  144. June 11th after 4 months of activity.  QSLs will be printed upon his

  149. BACK ISSUES OF THE OPDX BULLETINS are archived on the host system for
  150. the OPDX Mailing List, via "nshore.org".  An "archive server" can be
  151. accessed and sent to a person requesting ALL the back issues (and special
  152. bulletins) of the Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin. Bulletins can be obtained by just
  153. sending E-mail to "opdx-request@nshore.org" along with the word "archive"
  154. in the "Subject:" line and then use the following commands:

  165.   OPDX Bulletins/files are listed in directories by years, as in volume91,
  166. volume92 ... volume95, volume96.  Regular weekly OPDX Bulletins have a 
  167. ".0" appended to the OPDX Bulletin number ... special bulletins,
  168. corrections/etc. have a dot 1-9 digit appended to the OPDX Bulletin
  169. number (001.0 to 255.0 are regular weekly issues, 186.1 or 197.3 which
  170. are special bulletins of those particular weeks). The following "volumes"
  171. contain the following bulletins: volume91 (001.0 to 042.0), volume92
  172. (043.0 to 092.0), volume93 (093.0 to 140.0), volume94 (141.0 to 187.1),
  173. volume95 (188.0 to 235.0) and volume96 (236.0 to 256.0).

  176.   ls latest           <-- Will list a page of the latest bulletins
  177.   egrep some.word latest/* <-- This command will search for the latest
  178.                           word, callsign, country...etc. Neat feature!
  179.   get latest/LIST     <-- Will send the current list of bulletin.
  180.   get volume[yy]/LIST <-- Will send the list of files listed for a
  181.                           particular year [yy].
  182.   get volume[yy]/###.# <- Will retrieve a bulletin (###.#) from a
  183.                           particular year [yy].
